Our teachers are our most important asset. Without dedicated, passionate, educated and experienced early childhood educators, we could not create the dynamic, warm and supportive school environment our children deserve.
Teaching here is different
We know that this time in a child’s life offers teachers the greatest impact on a child’s development. It is also the time when we have the most impact on supporting and educating parents in how to be effective and supportive of their children.
Pacific Primary has been a leader in offering full benefits to our staff: competitive salary, full medical and dental, pension, life and disability insurance, and generous vacation and sick leave. We are also proud of our policy of expanding and strengthening our knowledge of early childhood through professional development. We have an endowment to help fortify our budgeted funds so that we may send teachers to workshops, conferences and in-services around the country and around the world. We were fortunate to send two Lead Teachers to New Zealand for a study group of the country’s best early childhood practices, and they returned to present workshops on what they learned to our staff. Our teachers are also cohorts, authors and presenters.
Our community of parents respects and appreciates our teachers and sees them as educators. They celebrate the staff in many ways: from an annual staff appreciation dinner, to a raffle prize at each staff meeting, to a meaningful celebration on their birthday. In a field that doesn’t always get the respect it deserves, it makes a significant difference for our staff to have the support and admiration of the parents.
About Pacific Primary
For more than fifty years, Pacific Primary, a nonprofit early childhood program, has offered a model year-round preschool for a highly diverse group of children (ages 2½ to 6). Pacific Primary has two sites across the street from each other: the Orange Sun School serves 74 children and the Yellow Sun School serves 80 children.
Compensation and benefits
We offer our staff competitive compensation and a generous benefits package that includes ample paid time off and health/dental insurance. After one year, employees are eligible to participate in our 401(k) plan.
