Our Program
Meals
At Pacific Primary, lunch doesn’t arrive in a packed box from home: it comes hot from our own kitchens, cooked fresh from scratch every day.
From our kitchen
Hot meals, made in-house
At most preschools, lunch arrives from home in a packed box. At Pacific Primary, it comes hot from our own kitchens. We are one of the few schools in San Francisco with two full-time chefs, cooking fresh meals and snacks from scratch every day, so families never have to pack a lunch.
Mealtimes are woven into the day, not squeezed around it. Teachers sit and eat alongside the children, family-style, over the same food and unhurried conversation. The children set their own places, clear their plates, and compost and recycle what’s left, growing a little more capable and considerate with every meal.
Because the food is vegetarian and changes with the seasons, children meet a wide range of flavors and textures, and many grow into far more adventurous eaters than their families expected. And since we cook around allergies and dietary needs, every child can share in the very same meal.
